Julia Sylva, Founder, Executive Director and General Counsel: Ms. Sylva is an experienced attorney and community advocate. She serves as corporate counsel to business clients where she assists with contract review and formation; corporate compliance; and shareholder and partner agreements. She also represents real estate clients in development, purchase and sale, leasing, easements, boundary-line disputes and entitlements. She also is an expert in probate and estate planning where she prepares trusts, wills, and related estate documents, and she serves as counsel in guardianship, conservatorship and probate petitions. She is a certified mediator and expert in issues related to Elder Law and Elder Abuse (Loyola Law School, 1983). Ms. Sylva is also expert in the municipal regulation and taxation of cannabis.
Ms. Sylva is the Founder and CEO of Healthy Home Options, a nonprofit organization that seeks to be the leading think tank in affordable housing and programming for seniors. HHO staff is expert in public health and issues related to environmental conditions that are hazardous particularly for seniors. HHO seeks to promote safe housing development projects and programming for seniors related to: health, nutrition, finance, alternative medicine and homeownership (and reverse mortgages).
Ms. Sylva has been active in the community for over forty (40) years as an advocate for the underprivileged and Spanish-speaking community. She serves as a mentor and member of several community-based organizations, where the mission is to empower the community and the underserved, with a special emphasis on the senior population. Ms. Sylva is the youngest and first Latina elected to the City Council, City of Hawaiian Gardens, where she served a Mayor for two (2) terms (1976 – 1980) (Source: U.S. Conference of Mayors).
